IF YOU’RE LIKE ME, YOU DON’T LIKE TO DO ANYTHING WHEN YOU’RE DONE WITH AN 8-HOUR SHIFT AT WORK.
But today, Kai asked me if I wanted to go watch a sunset after work. Since it’s on my list of New Year’s resolutions, I figured why not? Another sunset to add to the books, right? And then he asked me to bring my mask and my fins. Don’t get me wrong, I love diving. But like I said, I don’t like to do anything when I’m done with work. Except, that is, to unwind. So, on this particular day, I would’ve been more than happy to stay away from an evening dive session.
Of course, that wasn’t going to happen. After finishing work, I rushed through traffic to get to Kai’s house so we could go to China Walls. When we got there, the place was littered with college keiki. We set our stuff down and immediately got ready to jump into the water… I dreaded it every. Step. Of. The. Way.
But once I was in the water with my mask on… Let me just tell you. I was absolutely thrilled! I was at ease, peaceful, calm and happy, despite the fact that the water was murky AF. Even though we weren’t in the water for very long the mini dive-session was actually, just what I needed after a long week of having family AND people from corporate in town at work.
Who would’ve thunk?
The sunset afterwards, was truly amazing. Cotton candy skies all the way through. I couldn’t have asked for a better evening!
