THAT’S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR

I DON’T OFTEN DREAD MY TRIPS HOME, BUT TRUTH BE TOLD… I DREADED THIS ONE.

I mean c’mon… no one likes going into a weekend knowing there’s no rest (or fun) for them ahead. The only part of this weekend that I looked forward to was getting to spend time with my best friends. Would you believe it if I told you that the last time we were all together at the same time was in 2012 at one of the girls’ weddings?! Imagine that. Five years!

We were at Cheryl’s house by 10:00am in the morning and thankfully, were not immediately put to work! When we finally were, though, Cheryl and I did the caulking on the sidings and Eme (pronounced em-a, or simply m) got to work painting the window trimmings.

Hard at Work

I can’t believe I’m going to say this but… time really does fly when you’re having fun, and fun is what I had. Even though we were slaving away in the hot Hawaiian sun, before I knew it, it was lunch, and then it was time to go. Lucky for me (kind of) both days were like that. 🙂

On the second day of working, I heard my dad say to my best friend’s somewhat-mother-in-law: “She [Cheryl] must be special.” And he’s right. After someone has to be special for me to fly to the Big Island from O‘ahu just to work on house renovations all weekend, right?
